E ngineers from Glasgow University created a new flexible supercapacitor form to store energy, replacing traditional sweat electrolytes. The system operates via polyester cellulose covering a thin, supercapacitor electrode layer of a polymer. As the fabric absorbs the wearer’s sweat, the sweat’s positive and negative ions interact with the polymer’s surface, causing an electrochemical reaction that creates electricity.
